The wait to hear back from my internships is killing me!!! It really sucks knowing I will get denied, even though I have done and am doing every possible thing I can at my school to prepare me for a future in medicine in research. There really isn't a single thing I can think of that I could add to my credentials to be a stronger candidate. Yet, I will get denied because my research experience doesn't compare to the experience students get a stronger research schools who receive plenty of funding.
Here is my internship list, in order of preference:
1. Amgen Scholar at University of Washington in Seattle-- No Response
2. University of Illinois at Rockford-- The internship application deadline hasn't passed yet.
3. University of Cincinnati--No word, but acceptance is on a rolling basis.
4. University of Texas Southwestern-- Placed on Alternates List
5. Methodist Research Institute in Indianapolis-- No Response
6. My University Chemistry Internship-- No response (April Likely)
7. Dow AgroSciences-- No response
8. ASM-URF--No response
It is important I get into a program at one of the universities, because it will be easier for me to get into their MD/PhD program. It is absolutely crucial I get an internship offer for this summer to get into a PhD program.
